Lovely place, all teenagers settled in immediately (they found the wifi..) Great well equipped kitchen, we cooked every day and it worked well. Unbeaten location, the property was lovely and great for 5 guests, I think anymore and the living space would have been a bit tight for the number of bedrooms on offer. Wouldn't be a problem in the summer but on the wetter days. Lovely little welcome gift, communication was fab! If you are not very mobile the carpark is a 5 min walk as stated but it is up a very steep hill so just a warning for anyone with mobility issues. Emma. Sept, 2023

We had one of the best three generation family holidays in Rock. Great location and outstanding views from the property combined with a whole week of blue skies and sunshine.We have been holidaying in Rock for the last 30 years so that is saying something !!!! Only slight drawback is the lack of adjacent parking if you have any disabilities.Keith. May, 2023

We are a family of 6 that spent almost a month in Aloe House between early December and early January. The house is truly lovely, extremely well maintained and perfectly situated on the water front in Rock. Our children range from age 15 to 9 and, as the house is spread across 3 floors, there is plenty of room. It never felt crowded. Both Ros and the owner were extremely attentive and professional. There were a few very minor reasons to contact them throughout our stay and they responded extremely quickly. Nothing was too much trouble. As our stay was over Christmas, we were asked beforehand if we wanted a tree and arrived to a nice tree and other Christmas decorations. We also arrived to a very nice welcome hamper; all of which was a lovely touch. Given our usual hectic lives, we found the comparative remoteness and traditional way of life in Rock and Padstow very relaxing. If you’re looking for high quality accommodation in a tremendous but slightly quiet location (out of season), I have no hesitation in recommending Aloe House. So much so we are already planning our return visit, which the entire family has asked for! Sophie. Jan 2023

My eldest son received an emergency call up to play rugby in Hove this morning so we had to leave at 4.30am today. A rushed ending to a fantastic 4 weeks in Rock. This house is one of the best situated in Rock, it doesn’t get much better than 2 doors up from the Mariners! Attention to detail has been better at similarly priced houses I have stayed at- being provided with 2 dishwasher tablets, and no washing up liquid, for a week in a house that sleeps 9 is mildly annoying. However, nothing can detract from the incredible views onto the Camel in the morning or sitting on the front terrace with a glass of wine in the evening as the sun goes down, which is glorious. Even though it was not as bad as expected weather pretty cold wet and windy, but still a great visit. Aloe house is a lovely cottage in a great position, but more than 6 people is probably too many, for the bathrooms. Courtyard at back is not much value but front terrace is excellent. Next door Mariners, we thought, was a bit disappointing and only went once. Local butcher, bakery and spa perfectly adequate for all our needs. We liked the bike ride on the Camel Trail to the vineyard or the lovely tea garden, towing the dogs! Beaches both sides of estuary are excellent, particularly with a windbreak. Our dogs were in seventh heaven! The local draft Doom Bar is far better than in bottles now made in Midlands. We'll be back! John. May, 2021

Just a note to say how much we enjoyed staying in your Aloe House, we loved it’s charm and cosiness but with still feeling spacious. Facilities/equipment were excellent and with the dodgy weather it was so nice always coming home to a lovely warm house. We would love to book again for next year, so hopefully when you release dates for 2022 we will be able to secure them. Many thanks for sharing your lovely home.We had a great stay thank you and we loved Aloe House! Although we had a couple of initial problems with housekeeping and the hot water our stay was perfect! We love our stays at Aloe House and feel very at home. We love being able to look out over the estuary, very relaxing and only a short step away from walks on the beach.
The kitchen-dining-living space works very well and the hall is light and airy, as is the whole house.
It's so useful to have the utility room with the sink/worktop and airer/hooks for our wet things, rear access to bring our dog in and towel him off and it's a great place for his bed by the radiator. Could not have been planned out any better.
What would make it better? It's probably time for the ensuite to get a refresh like the other bathroom... it's lacking that quality feel you expect for this kind of booking.
Other ideas - have you thought about making the small bedroom on the second floor into a bathroom so that means two couples staying have privacy on each floor?
All in all, a fab stay for us. Will recommend to friends and will come again.

“Ros' place in Rock is just on the other side of Padstow. It's a short walk along the beach to catch the ferry going into Pastow. The place was spacious and clean. The beds were comfy. “Aloe House was a lovely treat for our family, it can’t be beat for character, location or its view from the living room bay window! We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay, we based ourselves in Rock so we were able to use the Ferry to Padstow very easily or the roads to our favourite Polzeath. One member of our family has difficulty walking and Ros was extremely helpful from the offset helping me understand the accessibility of the rooms, en suites, steps up to the house etc. She is extremely quick to respond and provided a huge amount of recommendations and information about the area and its amenities. If you have kids the beach is spitting distance and a great size for playing frisbee as we found out! I was familiar with this property from the outside having stayed in Rock several times and it is exactly as described on the inside too. Plenty of space for two families of four each, with children ranging from eight to 15. The house was very clean for our arrival and the back yard is great for drying and storing the beach gear without having to bring it through the house. Hi Ros. Just to let you know we left earlier after a fantastic few days. Enjoyed everything about the house which was perfect for our family. Saw dolphins with wave hunters yesterday and looking to check out the lobster hatchery in a minute before heading home. Thanks for a good experience with you. We had a fantastic short break at Aloe House, everything was perfect for our teenage family’s stay. The service before the visit was great, even after we booked at extremely short notice. House was spotless and well equipped. Location 10m from the Mariner’s pub/restaurant ideal for us and proximity to the dunes/beach for Dusky our golden retriever meant he got to swim in the estuary several times. What an amazing house and location! We had the best time. With the Mariners pub around the corner we were spoiled for choice for food and drinks. The beach is just across a quiet street! We were 2 families staying a the house, a total of 5 adults and 2 children. It could easily accommodate for 2 more adults. The house itself is spacious and newly decorated - we will def come back!
