Foodie Haven, Cornwall

One of the (many) things I love most about travelling and holidaying in the West Country is the abundance of fresh local produce. There's always something different to take home and cook up a delicious treat. In no particular order, some of the best local foodie shops, delis, fishmongers and more are covered here.

To quote "Cornish life is shaped by the sea ...  with the ocean on our doorstep and with it, some incredible seafood".

No holiday in the West Country could be complete without experiencing some of the wonderful seafood on offer - here's just a selection of great places to buy - from online shops to traditional fishmongers. Visit Seafood Cornwall  for information on types of fish, sustainability and some delicious recipe ideas.

And of course, you'll want something to drink with your delicious food. The West Country produces delicious Beers, Ciders, Wines, Gin, soft drinks and more ...

Cornish Orchards produce a range of award winning ciders and soft drinks available widely at specialist shops throughout the region and beyond. Or order online at least 7 days in advance of your holiday for holiday-property delivery.

Sharps Brewery - producers of the famous Doom Bar ale and more.  Usually there are tours and tastings but alas, Covid has (hopefully temporarily) suspended them. You can shop online, and their products are widely stocked.

Tintagel Brewery - not surprisingly, situated just outside Tintagel! With some traditionally produced ales, tasters, visitor centre and viewing gallery and online ordering for delivery.

Cornwall has no shortage of artisan gin producers and one of our favourites is Cornish Gin from the Colwith Farm Distillery. Located near Lostwithiel, roughly 40 minutes from the North Cornwall coast, you can experience tours, the gin school and a masterclass. You can also shop online for home delivery. If you prefer something non-alcoholic try Pentire Gin - plant based drinks with all the flavours of gin, but without the affect of alcohol. Shop online for free, next day carbon-neutral delivery.

Padstow Brewery has a core range and some speciality brews. Buy online or visit their shops and tasting rooms on Broad Street and Duke Street in Padstow.
